Mobile Phone Competition

Last night (10 Feb) we ran the rescheduled Mobile Phone Competition at the hall. But this time the entries were judged by members attending the session. After a little 'training' on what to look for as a judge, members reviewed all 40 submissions and started to think about their favourites. Over coffee each member allocated 5,4,3,2 and 1 point to their favourite five images respectively.

A quick total revealed Phil Kirk's lovely simple and atmospheric composition of Loch Lomond as the winner. It also received the joint number of voters with 3rd placed Durdle Door Sunset by Kevin Lane. Squeezed into 2nd place was Derek Doar's take on the view above the North Yorkshire town of Staithes.

The quality and variety of images showed how good the camera on your phone can be. As most of us always have it on us it can be used to take that opportunistic snap or provide an alternative easy to carry camera to your usual kit.

Attendees enjoyed the evening with great interaction, a demographic approach and many differences of opinion...and as we know, photography is always a subjective view on the world.

Well done again to Phil for his winning entry and we hope to have other entries posted into the Competition Results webpage in due course. Thanks to those who attended and participated,  and also to Karen for arranging a new and innovative way of managing a club competition.
