"How Do Monkeys Take Photos?"

David Slater

When David Slater coaxed a monkey to hit the camera button in an Indonesian jungle, he created a globally famous story that explores so many current issues about our society.

Ranging from animal rights, property, the media and conservation, David has had to battle both with and against these forces for years in an attempt to gain control of his "monkey selfies" and at the same time promote their well-being.
His presentation will show the power and importance that even one photograph can achieve.

David has a long research background in the Earth Sciences that ultimately lead to a deep passion for the Natural World.

David gave up a university career in 1996 and has since explored the world as a conservation and wildlife photographer.

He is an author of a self-published book, "Wildlife Personalities", that demonstrates how closely connected we are to animals, with a hope to re-connecting the human being to a lost soul-mate.

"Every Picture Tells a Story"

A follow up to the "Sports Illustrated" lecture that I gave last season, this will again primarily focus on sports images, but will show more that don't regularly appear on the salon circuit and will go into a little more depth for some sports.

I'll talk more about why I generally steer clear of working directly for the agencies. I'll talk about my recent MPAGB and compare and contrast it to my DPAGB awarded in 2012. I will bring the 20 prints from my successful MPAGB.

And just to show that I'm not a one trick pony I'll put together a selection of non-sporting images that have gained acceptances and awards on the circuits. (primarily macro nature and landscapes)
