During the first or 2nd week in Aug you can see expanses of heather in the Peak district. A good place to start is SURPRISE VIEW (near Hathersage)

Sept 2008 Robin Hood Marathon:
14th September 2008

The Robin Hood Marathon has been going for over 27 years
Starting and finishing at Victoria Embankment, the runners pass many of Nottingham's historical and well known landmarks including Nottingham Castle, Wollaton Hall, and even running through Nottingham University’s Trent Building! They also pass Nottingham’s two famous football clubs (Nottingham Forest and Notts County) and Trent Bridge Cricket Ground then meander down the majestic River Trent. The full marathon will also take in the National Water Sports Centre and Holme Pierrepont Hall before making its way back to Victoria Embankment.

2008		 Around the 2nd week in this month is prime time to photograph the Acers at Westonbirt Arboretum.
